The Story of Snowman's First Skate

The Story of Snowman's First Skate

The woodland friends could hardly contain their excitement. Now that their snowman had miraculously come to life, the day felt as if it sparkled with endless possibility. After a morning of laughter and winter play, Fox suggested something special for their newest friend’s very first adventure.

“Let’s take him ice skating!” Fox declared, his tail sweeping patterns into the snow.

Rabbit’s ears perked, Squirrel squeaked with delight, and soon Bear and Pine Marten were gathered too, bundling Snowman along the winding path toward the frozen pond. The sky above had begun its evening transformation, blooming into soft pinks and purples. Under that dreamy glow, the snow shimmered with a pale lavender hue like twilight had brushed the whole forest in magic.

At the pond’s edge, Snowman wobbled with excitement. “I’ve never skated before,” he said shyly, though a tiny smile curved his snowy face.

“That’s what we’re here for!” Rabbit chirped.

Fox, Rabbit, and Squirrel each took one of Snowman’s twig hands while Bear steadied him from behind. Their skates scratched little silver lines across the ice as they pushed off together, slowly at first—glide, glide, glide.

Snowman teetered, arms flailing a little, but his friends held tight. Soon his wobbles softened, his balance steadied, and a joyful sparkle lit up his coal eyes.

“You’re doing it!” Squirrel cheered.

With each round across the pond, Snowman grew more confident. He began to glide on his own, carving gentle arcs across the glassy surface, laughing a tinkly, frosty laugh that echoed through the winter air.

By the time the last streaks of sunset dyed the sky a deep violet, Snowman looked as though he had been skating his whole life.

And as they all drifted to a stop beneath the settling dusk, Snowman whispered, “This was the perfect first day.”
